Jose Antonio Cia (Ceuta, 1925) was a self-taught painter, who developed all his work in Alicante, city with an intense Mediterranean light, that was the motor of its inspiration. After a first figurative period, he enters himself totally in the field of the abstraction, where he was the creator of a new form of artistic expression: the Reflexismo. Its gestual work begins towards 1960, and is you make in watercolor.

The works present/display abundance of outlines and rapidity of accomplishment. They appear air lines or winding that they invade all the space, leaving to arise in some zones the target of the support

Sometimes, the gestures form reticular structures of geomezitrante character. Nevertheless, other works are formed by pigment spots that occupy ample zones of the fine cardboard and that by dripping get to produce fusion of colors. In first it uses dark colors of brown range but, as it advances the time, its trowel is clarified and illuminated with blue, yellow, red, pink, the green one, etc. In addition, all these colors are subject to very great pitch gradations, because the watercolor with sponges and rags works. Jose Antonio Ci'a, besides to revolutionize the perspective in the painting, has been a person with a deep land implication of adoption, Alicante, participating and actively promoting the cultural actions in the city. Being among others, member of Honor of the Institute of Culture Juan Gil numerous Albert and organizing seminaries, encounter and directed initiatives to spread to the art and the painting in the city.

It was Present member of Present Art and Artists of the Mediterranean, Societario of the Hall May of Barcelona and of the Hall March of Valencia; member of the Institute of Alicantinos Studies of the Excma. Provincial delegation from its foundation, Vowel of the Governing Meeting and Permanent as well as the President of the Section of Arts PLa'sticas and Volcal de Publicaciones, positions to which resign to dedicate more time to their own artistic activities. Worried about the incorporation of the light like pictorial matter, with the cinetismo in the art and the corporalidad, it makes numerous investigations from year 1965 on divesas matters to reaching satisfactory results. It presents/displays the study of the Reflexismo and work made with this procedure, before exposing it to the public, the integral professors of the Seminary of Art ' Lorenzo Casanová, of the University Training center of Alicante, and academic authorities of diverse disciplines that approve totally their work. First exhibition of this tendency makes his in the Gallery of Art of the Provincial Savings bank of Alicante year 1972, publishing < at the same time < Manifest of the Reflexismo > > on its investigations.

The success was immediate and growing with time. To day of today, the work of Jose Antonio Ci'a is in numerous museums and private collections distributed everywhere. In 2002, and to the time that was inaugurated the exhibition ' 30 years of Reflexismó, an extraordinary route by all its work in the Museum of the Market in Alicante, Jose Antonio Ci'a left us, remaining its work and its legacy. At the moment the Reflexismo has numerous followers and artists who continue developing this artistic school, between that honor its daughter Teresa Ci'a and Joaquin Lopez
